Posting for a friend who just got fucked over on Craigslist. A guy insisted he wanted to buy the car right away for $2300, made my friend drive 800 miles home to TN to get the title, and then never showed and won't return calls. He's motivated to sell the car FAST, so if you have offers feel free to make them and I'll pass them on (or PM me and I can give you his number).
Its a clean car in great cosmetic condition, and has been extremely well maintained. Looks great, drives perfectly smooth and pulls strong, no mechanical issues whatsoever. Automatic transmission, 18" mass chrome wheels with almost brand new tires. Passed inspection 1 month ago. It has had (within the last 6 months): new plugs, wires, egr valve, oxygen sensors, brakes, calipers, rotors, drums and shoes, motor mounts, trans service, new battery, and alignment (with the new tires). Has 240k on it, but almost entirely highway miles from him visiting home in TN every month.
He's asking $2000 but will consider any reasonable offer. The car is off Kaplan Drive and anybody who wants to come take a look or if serious test drive it is welcome. 5/11/2010 12:31:36 PM |

I clicked on this thread with the thought that "I know a guy trying to sell a Saturn, but he isn't on TWW." And then I realized it is indeed the same...and then I found $5.
Sorry to hear that guy screwed Rob over... 5/11/2010 1:08:19 PM |

He could have had that title over-nighted via FedEx for like $25. But he's a fool for not getting a deposit first.
Actually, the first mistake was listing the car for sale to begin with when he didn't have the title. What did he think was going to happen when someone wanted to buy it?
GLWS, but no sympathy here.

"I left the title in Tennessee" usually means "I stole it from Durham", so he can't be too mad at a buyer backing out. Plus that's just craigslist...people are surprisingly impulsive, even when it comes to buying a car. If they can't go get it right then and there they'll lose interest. Just repost it every 48 hours and include a phone number(50% of people reading craigslist are too lazy or stupid to use email). 5/11/2010 1:32:56 PM |

He was going home to TN anyways Thursday. He posted it on Craigslist earlier to give it some exposure first. This guy said he wanted to buy it immediately and managed to convince Rob to make a special trip. Said he didn't feel comfortable putting down a deposit and wanted to pay the entire amount and have the title in hand.
I was there when he met the dude, real polite older guy buying it as a first car for his son. Seemed quite serious and swore up and down he wouldn't be making Rob take an extra trip for nothing. Ah, well. Craigslist BS aside the car is still for sale, so lets move the topic from bashing Rob to that. 5/11/2010 2:04:17 PM |
