-5/13/2010 - This starts my second dealings with this relocation company. They were absolutely horrible before. Very slow and inefficient in everything that they do. After talking with coworkers when I first took this job, they all let me know that they hated this relocation company as well.
I accepted my job offer weeks ago, and my official transfer/start date is 5/22/2010 (5/24 functionally).
This company works by calling you first to set up appointments to survey, pack, move, etc...
For the past week, I have been talking to my HR rep to get these people to call me. It is now 5/13/2010... and they just contacted me... leaving me with a little over a week to move. FUCK!
And to add insult to injury, my rep. with this relocation company is taking tomorrow off... so our first phone appointment is going to have to wait until next Tuesday. FUCK.

I got laid off
Found a new position within the company 4 days later
HR pushed out my layoff date a few weeks, and essentially made it a job transfer
I'm going down to the DC metro area (Rockville, MD)

Ah, cool... One of my best friends lived in Frederick and worked in Rockville. Frederick is a lot less expensive to live, but the commute in to Rockville sucked ass.

My sister-in-law works for the National Archives and lives in MD. She's moving into her new place this weekend after a six month sabbatical in Israel. The rent in the DC metro is crazy high by my poor NC standards.
