Anyone else seen this?
The key fob in an '03 CR-V isn't working on just the driver's door anymore, nor is the door lock switch in the door. The other doors lock and unlock, but not the drivers.
The key will still operate the lock on the drivers door, and you can still manually push the lock up and down.
The internet tells me the mechanism gets sticky and the electronic actuator won't be able to push the lock, and it either needs some lubing or a new actuator. I've taken the door trim panel off and looked at it, but I was wondering if anyone else has dealt with this before I try it myself. If I can't get it worked out on my own, I'm gonna call the mechanic up and shell out some dollars. 5/17/2010 9:26:49 AM |

i got an 03 civic with the same problem. Did some troubleshooting and i need a new Actuator. ~$50 part from the local dealer / ~$35 from dealer on ebay.
It's fairly plug and chug, you can probably handle doing it yourself. 5/26/2010 4:21:07 PM |

I started last night, then learned there's a different actuator for CR-V's made in Japan and ones made in England, and I had an English car and Japanese part. Got it straight this morning at Leith Honda and I'm fixing it tonight.
On the plus side, I'm getting pretty familiar with the door panel innards on a CR-V. 5/27/2010 10:52:43 AM |

Yeah.
But anyways, got it done last night and it ended up not being too hard. The phrase "Experience is what you get right after you just needed it" did apply at more than one point.
Also, the driver's window doesn't won't automatically roll up and down anymore (the power window switch works, but it you have to hold it up and down for the window to operate). I think I crimped the track a bit getting it out of the way. I hope it resolves itself after being back in the right spot for a day or two. 5/28/2010 8:53:50 AM |
