Would anyone have any suggestions for how to meet readers/writers in the NCSU area? When I hang out at coffee shops in the area, I never see anyone reading, only people working on laptops. Short of asking every single one of them if they are a reader/writer, I'm not sure how that would work. I've been to a poetry reading at the Royal Bean, but it was a senior citizen convention. I also have been to a few book clubs with similar results. I'm specifically interested in meeting any readers/writers in the < 30 crowd. I graduated a few years ago (and know no English majors), I just happen to still live in the area. 5/19/2010 9:23:12 AM |

What type of writers? I write for magazines. And I go to coffee shops and read (though not as much as I'd like anymore. Damn time commitments.) 5/19/2010 9:31:04 AM |

Personally I'd be creeped out if someone randomly approached me in a coffee shop while I was trying to enjoy my book
My church has a 20-somethings book club. I'm sure there are others in the area as well. I'd try going to Quail Ridge Books and asking them for advice. 5/19/2010 9:34:00 AM |

Most bookstores and libraries have book clubs if that's the the sort of thing you're looking for.

i also came to say meetup.com i've never tried it but heard of it because there's a huge meetup.com group that goes rock climbing the same night my friends and i go every week. from what i hear you can find a group for pretty much everything, or you could always start your own. 5/22/2010 9:05:01 PM |
