I'm torn between The Hillsborough Street Area, or Downtown Raleigh... I'm Usually not a big fan of Glenwood South... Who likes what?

depends on what you're looking for.

Since I'm a beer guy, Flying Saucer is the best for me.

I think Village Draft House is better than Flying Saucer.

I prefer the downtown raleigh area since it seems more trendy.......glenwood south would be my second choice........hillsborough st would be dead last

i would like to try out pour house, raleigh times bar, dive, and flying saucer

the times.

the saucer is ok...but it's a chain, and the food isn't that great compared to what you can get elsewhere. seriously if the saucer is the best raleigh has to offer we have problems. i like the beer selection as much as the next guy, but i look for more in a bar.

i'd check out fayetteville street..more unique places...historical buildings etc.

Flying Saucer, Busy Bee (and The Hive), Oak City Tavern, The Oxford, The Foundation, and Big Easy are in my regular rotation.

[Edited on May 19, 2010 at 4:15 PM. Reason : Times is always too damn crowded, no thanks]

Times when it's not too crowded
Foundation for their homemade sodas
Bada bar for the people and cornhole
Oak city when it's not crowded and I can play shuffleboard (not really my scene otherwise)
Jackpot when I want to beat old black guys at pool
Mitch's when I was still in school (when they had the hairy naked chick above the bar)
Alibi for foosball Shut down.. but I hear King's is moving in
Snookers on pool league nights

Also, I like to play games when I'm drinking....

Okay, here's a rough Top Ten for me:
(these rotate frequently)

#1. Raleigh Times
#2. Woody's City Market
#3. Players Retreat
#4. Big Easy
#5. Ruckus
#6. (gonna throw in a wild card) Lynnwood Grill, mainly because of their Wings and service
#7. Landmark Tavern
#8. Foundation (not Oxford) - toemoss touche on the homemade mixers
#9. The Rockford (I hear it's coming back!!!)
#10. Busy Bee/The Hive

[Edited on May 19, 2010 at 5:42 PM. Reason : whoops, not The Oxford, they don't home-make anything]

I tended at Buckhead from opening day til January 08..... wow, what a shit show.

I haven't been out in Raleigh in a while... but I do like what they are doing downtown. I like Ruckus, the Bee, and Raleigh Times.

There's a place on Glenwood South right behind Mellow that i have been to a few times.... it was decent.

the warehouse district is a dying location due to all the hype glenwood is getting as being "the spot" in raleigh. With the closing of ess and mosquito (now liquid lounge) its gonna need a huge uplift to make it desirable again.

I'm not sure how "new" it is, I think its been open around a year now. Cool place but you have to be in the right mood. Drinks aren't cheap and there's usually a cover ( ). The barstaff is pretty good and one in particular is a pretty chill guy. Always a lot of nice tail in there too.

i thought warehouse is still growing ...i think something took over ess lounge and where office used to be........the GBLT just opened there too...and i think the contemporary museum is being built there as well.....so i actually see a lot of potential at the warehouse district.

amen to that brotha! Courtnay's on Six Forks is pretty good for breakfast as well, as is Finch's on Peace Street if you can tolerate the slow service...
