ugh i just moved after living in one place for the last 5 years (the longest i lived in one place since i was 10) and it was so much worse than i thought it was. i ended up getting annoyed and throwing away half my stuff because i just didnt want to deal with it.

did you find a place to live?

I'll be moving in July. Been here a year and still have stuff packed up and put away. Oh well... just makes it easier.

KG's back!

A few years back I moved 9 times in 3 years. Towards the end I wanted to kill myself.

Hope you enjoy your new place.

keeping stuff in storage is the worst. then you get new stuff, and you know you should just get rid of the old stuff but you just paid moneys to keep it there. lame

I, too, hate moving

Next time I move, I vow to do it in the fall or winter, cause moving in the summer sucks ass

Theres nothing more fun than hauling heavy shit all day...in 100 degree heat

One mindset you might want to consider...Look at a bunch of the stuff you haven't touched in over a year, especially the bulky stuff, and figure out how much you'd pay for someone to move it all for you so you could just sit back and chill while they do all the work.

If you'd pay as much as it's worth or more for someone to move it you should just put it by the curb. I mean, it might seem totally wrong in your head to put $200 worth of stuff at the curb, but if you're not using it and you'd be willing to pay someone $250 to move it you should just get rid of it and replace it if you ever decide you need it again.

i try to do something similar with clothes...if i haven't worn it in two years or if i'm just holding onto it because i think "one day i'll fit into it again" i give it away to goodwill or someone with a younger daughter

i moved at the beginning of april from a one bedroom apartment to a house. I purchased the house, but I'm still hesitant to unpack some of the stuff simply because I don't want to have to pack it up again later. This is after the "throw it away if I haven't touched it in a year" filter (mostly books and other things that just sit around and take up space).

that's kind of what i'm afraid of too. even though i didn't buy the place i'm thinking of all the "what if's". i'm definitely bringing in a friend or two that are exceptional organizers...at least that way things will be sorted and put away with some sort of order.

aaaaaand i'm ALMOST done with the move...yay yay yay! now it's just a matter of getting a couple things out and the old place cleaned
