Still no A.J. Davis

V That's what I get for trusting ESPN, I figured it was up to date since it included Baker and Larsen

Manny wants a new contract:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5299613

Quote :
"After missing most of the 2007 season with torn knee ligaments, Lawson finally returned to top form last year when he had a career-high 78 tackles and tied a franchise record with four forced fumbles. He ranked fourth among NFC linebackers in sacks."

I think Manny is making a mistake trying this little hold out ploy. He should have been in the voluntary workouts securing his starting spot over Brooks. Tough to really lobby for a new contract when you've only managed 1 full healthy and productive season so far, esp. as a first-round pick. But hopefully he'll still manage to secure his position and lock up a contract before anything crazy happens next off-season.

Looking forward to seeing Andre Brown get some playing time this year with the Giants. The unfortunate injury last season before things even got under way was a big set-back for him, but I feel he will come back this year and perform well =). He is a good power runner, with great speed, kind of reminds me of a stronger Tiki, so I think he will work well with the Giants, so long as he can find the seems and get past the line, he has the speed to break out for a nice chunk of yards.

I think after that injury Brown is going to need one more year to full recover and get some PT.

He is still a little sore, and his confidence is lacking, as is his speed and agility right now.

If Jacobs doesn't show some burst in camp though, who knows what could happen.

But he still has to beat out D.J. Ware and Gartrell Johnson for the 3rd RB spot.

Basically, don't hold your breath.

I think its a "career ending" injury more because he is 34 more than because of the severity.

however, not to bad to bust yourself up, go on IR and still collect on your 1.7 million dollar contract

Although his numbers are really good (top 15 in most of the major categories), by the time he's up for balloting, his numbers will probably be passed by another 10 or 15 guys. His drop-off in production the last few years has really hurt his HOF bid.

I give him around 50/50.

You can't compare his numbers to receivers in the past like Stallworth and Swann, because teams throw twice as much now. You have to compare him to his contemporaries like Owens, Moss, Harrison and Ward.

900+ catches and 13000+ yards look nice, but he only made one All Pro team, and his only ring came with him as the #3 option.

It should make for an interesting debate whenever he comes up for selection.

Pro Bowls, like any All Star game, are a popularity contest

I (and I imagine most voters) take much more stock in All Pro, All NBA, etc teams'

Case in point: Deangelo Williams in 2008

If they are going to talk about Kurt Warner being in the HOF, then Torry Holt needs to be discussed as well

He'll be discussed, but that doesn't mean he's got a good chance at getting in. The more I think about it, the less I think he will get in.

He was barely the top receiver on his own team during his career. He shared A LOT of spotlight with Isaac Bruce Az-Zahir Akim over the years and you could even say his numbers were skewed because of the offense St. Louis employed as well as Kurt Warner being at the helm for his big production years.

The fact that Warner replicated his success in Arizona gives him a better shot at getting in than Torry.

so larry fitzgerald and anquan boldin also aren't very good?

also he was the #2 option on the super bowl winning team. Proehl and Hakim were behind Holt.

Torry Holt was probably one of the most underrated receivers in the NFL. He let his play and his numbers speak for him, unlike some of his counterparts so he didn't draw attention to himself with off the field crap. He also got trapped with crappy QB's towards the end, I was really expecting we'd hear more from him this season with Brady throwing to him. I hope he is able to make it back one more time.

^^ You have to count Faulk as well.

Truly elite receivers are the number 1 option in their entire offense, like Fitz and Andre Johnson are now.

I agree with Shit Famous, if he was eligible right now he would get in, but in 5 years a lot of people will have passed him up stats wise... 50/50
