I've been to both and enjoy both but I wouldn't really go back to SF given the opportunity. For me it was more of a 'visit once' while I enjoy visiting DC frequently.

Both have a lot to offer as a tourist.

dc is a pretty cool place, but i freaking love san fran. my parents moved out there (to sausalito which is just north of the GG bridge) full time about 7 years ago and never plan on moving back.

i almost got a job at Stanford and was so excited about the possibility of moving out there. the people and culture are so diverse, the food is awesome, and the whole bay area is really beautiful.

I have never heard anything good about living in DC
