@BFeldmanESPN: USC has been hit with a two-year post-season ban in addition to the loss of scholarships, among other penalties from the NCAA.

wish they would have fined pete carroll

ok, put it in coaches contracts that if they fuck up, they forfeit their pay for that year or pay it back.. or something.

[Edited on June 10, 2010 at 12:58 AM. Reason : coaches shouldn't go unpunished]

I am glad that they are getting punished. Pete Carrol pulled a Calipari and got the hell out before the hammer fell.

On espn this morning they said that since the Heisman and BCS are seperate entities it would not affect the BCS national championship or Reggie's Heisman. Those entities would have to make that decision, which is possible.

Just heard that juniors and seniors will be able to transfer w/o penalty. (Unofficial) If true, that's gonna sting a bit.

"But the past is less important than how USC looks going forward. It seems like Kiffin, with his seven career college coaching victories, is going to be able prove himself (or not) with unencumbered by major sanctions. Postseason ban? It ain't happening. Crippling scholarship cuts? No way. Those are really the only two issues USC has to worry about. Anything else, USC can handle. If there was a hint that either one was on the table, Kiffin wouldn't be with the Trojans. "

ncaa really needs to institute something that says if a coach avoids punishment by going to the nfl or something, their punishment will be waiting if they ever come back to the ncaa

They can give a "show-cause" penalty for a coach for X number of years, meaning any school that wants to hire him has to go before the NCAA infractions committee and show cause as to why they should be allowed to hire him. It's basically a coaching ban since no school does that.

This is probably the best thing to happen for Kiffin. He can still rake in 4 mil a year and has an excuse if they suck ass.

Isn't the BCS technically a different body than the NCAA? So they could remain "BCS National Champions" while still having their wins vacated by the NCAA?

I dunno. I'm scratching my head over that one.

heard today that BCS said they would cooperate with any NCAA rulings i.e. would take the championship away if it wins were to be vacated

This is fucking gay, i hate this bullshit where 5 years later they make a decision.

The NCAA needs to turn this shit over to independent regulators who regulate shit like Nate Dawg and Warren G.

Im glad USC is fucked because they deserve it. The coaches shouldnt be allowed to ever coach again in NCAA. I wish Calipari was banned right now. But its still dumb to try to remove history.

When I was growing up if I looked at who won in 1985 and it was removed because Miami and Nebraska players were fucking white girls they paid for with booster money I wouldn't know what the fuck to think.

The NCAA needs to either stop pretending or just give each team a salary cap.

The next stop is the East Side Motel.

^^ The bowl game ban lasts for 2 years, so freshmen and sophomores would still be able to play for a possible championship.

If they want to vacate the wins from the 2004 season they should also make USC and the Pac 10 pay back the bowl money. That would make quite a big message to them.
