We need to renovate one of our bathrooms. the shower stall is leaking so we're looking at a new stall, floor, plumbing fixed. It's been leaking for a while so there might be some mold

On a budget, need someone honest & fair.

thanks!

I just went through the exact same situation. except it ended up being a leaky pipe in the wall near the shower, and had nothing to do with the shower afterall. we ended up replacing the shower anyways since we had gotten used to the idea. pulled out the shower, moved the wall over a few inches for more room, and built a tile shower and matching tile floor through the rest of the bathroom. we hired a friend to do it, cost a little under $2k

If it's a standard size you can get the kits at lowes/home depot that are very user friendly. It comes with a shower/tub pan and walls are in pieces. You just drop the pan in, line up with your plumbing and add the walls one by one. Make sure you cut out for your faucet/shower head and caulk the seems. Very easy to do.

^ this.

There are sites on the web that show how to do install these kits as well. You do not have to spend 2K to resolve this problem. What qntmfed did was an upgraded shower with tile and a moved wall. Those two items can be expensive and labor intensive. Labor for tile installation is just silly expensive due to the contractor having to come back on multiple days to complete the job.

my husband is capable of doing all the labor (except the plumbing) BUT he's working down in the gulf and there's no telling when he'll be given time to come home

thanks for the comments

You should call Grapehead. I heard he has a great toilet painting business.
