actually it depends on what I need to do. If I'm making new friends and scoring free drinks, alcohol is my best beverage.

If I'm working, operating motor vehicles or power tools, or need to generally behave alcohol is not a good choice. From what you wrote it didn't sound like you will be having fun tonight - which means you probably have some obligation to fulfill.
