"Raleigh, N.C. — At an undisclosed location Saturday evening, Wake County law enforcement officers will be holding a checkpoint to ticket those who break the law.

Since March, at least 500 people have been arrested at similar checkpoints for various offenses. Thirty-six of those arrests were for drunken driving.

“We're out there to make sure you have your seatbelt on and that you're in compliance with the law," Garner police officer Benjamin Deese said.

Deese also said people should keep their seatbelts on at all times. If you need to take it off to get your driver's license while at the checkpoint, tell the officer first to avoid getting a ticket.

But what if you're in a stopped position and trying to reach your wallet? Are they going to be that anal and ticket you for operating a vehicle while in running setting without proper safety belts?

What the hell were the other 400+ people arrested for if not drunk driving?

I've been pulled a few times and got my wallet out before the cop got there.

They always ask "did you have your seatbelt on?" and i say "i took it off so i could get my wallet" and that's it.

well what happens if your name is Micheal J Fox and it turns out to be a 30 min ordeal to reach into your back pocket and grab you wallet, then keep on dropping it over and over before the officer finally gives up and grabs it out of your crotch area. Then again, that someone would probably not be driving in the first place, my bad.

In that case your best option would be accelerating the vehicle to 88MPH before hitting the checkpoint.

You're not thinking fourth dimensionally. You'll instantly be transported back into 1885, and that checkpoint won't even be there.

what happens if I hit a cop going 88 in my DeLorean through one of those checkpoints? Will the cop be transported with the car because he's in the warp sphere or does it only retain to persons within the vehicle only?

"Raleigh, N.C. — A Wake County task force created a little over a year ago is catching drunken driving suspects and arresting fugitives from the law.

In just the past three months, the Wake County Traffic Safety Task Force has made about 500 arrests, including 36 for driving while impaired and seven on outstanding warrants.

Run by the sheriff's office and smaller police forces, the task force conducts periodic, unannounced traffic checkpoints to catch suspected drunken drivers and speeders, serve outstanding warrants and to enforce other traffic laws.

"We're out there to make sure you have your seat belt on and you're in compliance with the law," Officer Benjamin Deese of the Garner Police Department said.

A checkpoint at Wade Avenue and Interstate 40 Saturday night found 79 violations, said Phyllis Stephens, spokeswoman for the sheriff's office. Agents arrested three people wanted on outstanding warrants and issued 10 citations for DWI and three for having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.

Since it was launched in April 2009, the task force has conducted 37 checkpoints and arrested more than 200 motorists on DWI charges.

Deese offered some advice for drivers going through traffic checkpoints.

"People will pull up without having their seat belt on, and they say they took it off because they're getting their driver's license," he said. "Keep it on, and if you pull up and have to take it off then to get your driver's license, that's fine.""

I am suprised that no pretentious assholes have made a comment about how they never drink and drive so it wouldn't matter where a checkpoint is
