Does anyone with TWC know of a good Wireless N router from someone like Linksys or Netgear that works with TWC. I'm looking for something that a laptop and 2 Xbox's can connect to wirelessly from about 30 feet without any issues. I have the plain, black Ambit one provided by TWC. Recently all the things that connect wirelessly have worked for a while and then it prompts you to enter the WEP key again and when you enter the password it stops working. I've called TWC, they said they fixed it from their remote location when they set up a new network. Now it is doing the same shit all over again and their customer service is absolutely terrible.

Return their router, remove TWCs Home Networking service from your account -- its a waste of money. Buy any other Wireless N router and profit.

call them and tell them you are considering switching to u-verse

it doesn't matter if you are actually able to GET u-verse or not

If the first person you talk to isn't helpful, ask to speak to retentions assuming you haven't been transferred there already. If the person in retentions isn't helpful, thank them, hang up, call back and talk to a different retention specialist -- its amazing how much of a difference that can make.

I've had good luck with the following approach:

I noticed my rate has gone back up since my promo pricing recently ended, unfortunately I don't think I will be able to keep my services with the increase in price so I'm thinking about switching over to *DTV, Dish, U-verse, whatever* to get their promotional pricing which is more affordable for me right now. I'd really prefer to stick with TWC though as you guys have been great *sarcasm* over the past year -- if there is any way you can extend my promotional period out or reduce my bill back to the same price, I would definitely stick around.

They will try to get you to reduce your service -- give up HBO, reduce your Road Runner down to a slower speed, etc.

Thank them for all of their help, but let them know you aren't willing to part with the service level you have been receiving. Mention again you can get everything through U-verse or whatever for the same price you have been paying, without a loss of services.

If they still won't drop your rates down (they usually have by this point), thank them for their help and let them know you are going to contact another provider to see when service can be set up and will call back to cancel once it scheduled.

Hang up, call back, talk to a new specialist and start over.

Just don't be combative, angry, etc -- I always try to throw in some humor, I always ask for their name at the start of the conversation and refer to them by their name throughout the call. I've yet to pay full price on TWC in 7+ years.

I have had some success before just asking to have a new promotion applied to my account after the old one runs out. Don't even have to threaten to leave.
