ugh im having technology issues. i hope its stupid & easy to fix because i need to have it working before i get on a plane in the morning

here is the set up

-hp netbook
-hp external dvd writer

i downloaded some free dvd player software. i dont need anything fancy just need it to play my workout dvds while im on the road

the program is saying there is no dvd drive selected

i dont know what to do. if i need to install some other software please point me to it. i dont need fancy features, like i said the #1 purpose behind this is to play my workout dvds in the hotel while im on the road.

Is the DVD drive showing when you view "My Computer?"

I'm not sure what that software is, but I would try a trial of PowerDVD, or, if you're so inclined, just acquire the full version by less scrupulous means.

yes the drive shows up under my computer

isnt there just some free bare bones software out there? i dont know how to do that stuff sketchy style just want to do it freeeeee style
