Possible bomb threat shuts down I-40 in Durham

Durham, N.C. — Durham police have shut down Interstate 40 in both directions in the area of Fayetteville Road while they investigate a possible bomb threat, spokeswoman Kammie Michael said.

Areas of Fayetteville Road near I-40 are also being shut down at this time. Motorists are advised to avoid this area if possible.

Yes, they are routing Westbound Hwy 40 traffic onto Hwy 55. 55 towards Durham is fine and clear for the most part, 55 approaching the hwy 40 intersection coming FROM durham is a little conjested at the moment but not too terrible.

I live at the intersection of HWY 40/55 so I just got to go play in it myself.

All the roads around here are FUBARed. Took me well over an hour to get home (normally 25 minutes) and I thought I was being clever by getting off at Page. Not so clever, because my brilliant plan took me through RTP, where everyone who couldn't get on 40 was trying to find alternate ways to go. FAIL.

And they still have not neutralized the bomb/noodle at last check.
