I've got several Bob Timberlake framed prints and possibly a china set that was my grandmothers and mothers that I'd like to sell. Along with a few other things, I'd like to get these sold. Can anyone recommend a local(or not terribly local) auction house? A lot of them that I've looked at mostly do real estate so I don't think those would be most appropriate to give my stuff to to sell. Something more along the lines of an estate auction house I think would be best.
I've talked to Raleigh Auctions and they seem like they fit the bill. They have Estate Auctions every month. They do take a 25% fee for auctioned items and do not charge for items not sold. Anyone have any idea of a typical fee? If they can get a good price for my stuff, I'd be happy with getting 75% of the auction price.
Any other recommendations? Have you ever been to one of these auctions? How much does art usually go for?
They have an auction in July that I might go to to see how it turns out. 7/1/2010 2:41:16 PM |

Yeah, I forgot to mention that. I searched for comparable items and there just are not a lot of auctions that have completed with the kind of pictures I have. Mine actually might do pretty well on tehre since they are framed already but there isn't a lot of basis for any sort of good estimate for them.
[Edited on July 1, 2010 at 3:35 PM. Reason : I might just have to try ebay first with a reserve price and if that fails then try a local auction] 7/1/2010 3:31:45 PM |

I would def. try ebay first, since you reach the largest target audience.
