^^^unless you're my wife.

The risk may be low, but that was one of around 7 or 8 that were on me yesterday (only two were biting though). In a year I may have as many as 10 bites. The risk to the entire population is low, but I'm exposed a lot.

^yes...i had to crop the pic...
The hair on my head is pretty thick though. They're a little over 0.003 while my white wife's hair is half that.

10 bites a year is minimal exposure. I used to pick at least that many off of me every day when I did boundary surveys.

10 actual bites...I'll have 10 on me if I just get into my work truck for a few minutes but none of them will be attached to my skin.
Who knows how many get on me a year. Probably a couple hundred.

10 bites a year is not minimal for the average person. The average person probably wouldn't have a single one get on them at all in a year.
You're in the same boat as I am.

[Edited on July 2, 2010 at 4:54 PM. Reason : I'm honestly surprised I don't get bitten more when you consider how many are on me]

I was referring to actual bites. I could usually find 8 that climbed up my boot to the elastic band on my sock and started digging in.

Surveying is where I get mine. A lot of time I'm doing environmental surveying on a boat or in the water, but occasionally I've got to cut line and I'll have them all over my pants when I get back in the truck.

[Edited on July 2, 2010 at 5:00 PM. Reason : 10 bites is not minimal, you're just the crazy outlier on the upper end]
