I just tried to get a P.O. Box because I no longer have an address. Apparently, you need a (residential) address to get an address. Does that make any sense at all? This seems like a huge barrier for homeless people in getting out of chronic homelessness (They can't apply for jobs because they have no P.O. Box, they can't get a P.O. Box because they have no address, they cant get an address because they have no job.)
On top of it, every small P.O. Box was rented out. They rent out for 40$ for 6 months and take up approximately 2 square feet. You can fit ~ 1,000 boxes in 800 Sqft. ( the approximate size of an apartment) which would generate 80,000$ in revenue annually. It's a money making machine. If the post office is hurting for money, but they don't have enough supply to meet the demand of P.O. Boxes, charge more or build more boxes. Basic Economics. Shit

^^ That's an old one. The "new" intervention last night was about a Mexican lady who smokes PCP laced oregano joints all day.

Sure, if you realize that the USPS, in part, exists so that the government can find and track everyone. In reality, it's none of the government's damn business where anyone lives. [/big brother]7/13/2010 1:26:08 PM |
