"I like it when UNC does dumb stuff, and I want to nail them on every single thing possible. But this issue, as bad as looks, isn't all that. He told them he was an agent when they hired him, he was perfectly qualified for the position, so much so that he actually had it in the past before becoming an agent. The university steered athletes away from his class section to avoid any troubles. It was a bad idea, given their current situation, but it simply isn't a big deal."

Yes...but just because football players aren't in your class doesn't mean you can't be around them all the time. The story is that this teacher/agent basically followed Quinn around the whole summer and was his gopher. Someone had to have known about it and did nothing about it.

I'm not digging that shit up in one of the 8 million UNC threads on Packpride. But it was way back when Quinn was preparing for the draft...so long before the agent/teacher shit even came out.

Of course he denies it...if he admitted it, he would get suspended from being an agent by the NFL.

so... why would an agent get suspended for "following around" a player he had already signed? and you are treating rumours on PackPride as unabashed fact? Kind of like the rumor that Marvin's mom set up a fake charity?

He was teaching the class before Quinn signed. Research it yourself...you should have enough free time to do that.

do you have a source for that erroneous claim, as well? because the Charlotte observer seems to suggest that Quinn had signed with Carey well before the first summer session. and you accuse me of needing to do some research

http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2011/09/15/2609228/ncaa-returns-to-unc-for-probe.html
Quote :
"By the beginning of this year, Carey had added 2011 NFL draft picks Robert Quinn, Quan Sturdivant and Bruce Carter to the list of former UNC players he represents. But Sturdivant soon switched to another agent, and Carey later sued Quinn after Quinn dropped him for another agency.
"

moreover, that goes against what the N&O article I referenced earlier says as well:
Quote :
"At the time Carey taught the UNC class, he said Quinn's girlfriend and business manager was questioning Carey's ability to represent Quinn. Quinn and his girlfriend were living in Chapel Hill during the time Carey was teaching the class."

Read more: http://www.newsobserver.com/2011/08/27/1439646/sports-agent-taught-class-at-unc.html#ixzz1Y2vnYmf2

That sure seems to suggest that Quinn was still signed with Carey while Carey was teaching the class, especially when we go down two sentences:
Quote :
"On July 22, Quinn sent a fax saying he had dropped Carey, who in turn sued Quinn, the business manager and two agents who Carey thinks were trying to pry Quinn loose.
"

and then we have this reference which suggests that Carey was signed with Quinn in at least March
http://www.sportsagentblog.com/2011/07/27/robert-quinns-former-agent-seeks-300000-temporary-injunction/

so, where is your "researched source" that shows Carey wasn't signed with Quinn when the first summer session started? for reference, summer session I started on May 10th and finished on June 14th.
http://registrar.unc.edu/ccm/groups/public/@registrar/documents/content/ccm1_042529.pdf

aaaaaand, I've now found the court documents involved. Page 3
http://www.docstoc.com/docs/87091171/Carey-Jr-v-Robert-Quinn
Is December 14, 2010 before or after the first summer session at UNC?

so, I will again ask you:
Quote :
"so... why would an agent get suspended for "following around" a player he had already signed?"

and then, just for shits and giggled, let's go at these two statements you made:
Quote :
"The story is that this teacher/agent basically followed Quinn around the whole summer and was his gopher."

Quote :
"I'm not digging that shit up in one of the 8 million UNC threads on Packpride. But it was way back when Quinn was preparing for the draft...so long before the agent/teacher shit even came out."

You realize the Draft occurred on April 28, 2011, right? Is that before or after May 15th, 2011? So, how did Carey "follow Quinn around the whole summer he was teaching" but do it "before the draft"? Does summer come before or after April?

The agent lives in fucking Durham. You think he's only been hanging around campus during this summer teaching session?? I knew when Quinn got signed and when the draft was. I initially thought that Carey taught LAST summer. Regardless, the rumors about him and Quinn have been around for over a year.

And notice that I said, "story"'. I didn't document the shit. What exactly are you arguing about? No wonder your job offer got rescinded...nobody in their right mind would want to work with your retarded ass.

^How about the summer before that Einstein...when all the shit was going down?

Quote :

When a lot of the stuff ends up being true, you start off by giving the "stories" the benefit of the doubt. Then when you think about it (HE ACTUALLY DID BECOME HIS AGENT)...does it not make sense?? I know a lot of stuff doesn't make sense to you...but just try and think about this one for a little while.

and, again, do you have ANY sources that Carey was providing those benefits during that time? absolutely not. we know that Carey gave Quinn some goodies in the fall, but that was after he had already been kicked off the team. methinks you are confusing Carey with some other agents and runners.

IMO Carey was on campus to recruit other players as well, not just Quinn. He was probably hoping a bunch of the current DL guys would end up in his "class" and he'd get a chance to know them well. Even if Carey is a professor and likes teaching, UNC had no business letting him on campus especially with the shit storm involving the NCAA going on.

Carey is Bruce Carter's agent as well. Carter played last season, got hurt in our game, and missed the final against duke and the Music City Bowl.

That's just for informational's sake.

McAdoo and Reddick's apartment caught on fire last year...posters on PP are now implying that UNC may have committed arson in attempt to hide/destroy evidence.

Quote :
"What about the fact that the apartment burned, totally consumed, the weekend of the NCAA first arroving on campus?"

Quote :
"I alluded to this fact about the burnt apartment months ago and several on here(mostly the UNC skates crowd) dismissed me as being from out in left field. There was probably damming info lost in that fire."

I'm pretty sure people have been looking for a way to link this to basketball since the news broke over a year ago. And 1 basketball senior taking the independent study course doesn't exactly drag the basketball program into this mess...unfortunately.

A 30 for 30 would explain how unfairly unc was treated and how the big bad ncaa was just looking to make an example.

nobody cares about UNC's problems nationally, and the story really isn't all that interesting

^people keep saying that. I get that NOW they are not that interesting as far as being a national college football BCS level contender, but neither was SMU until they turned dirty, woke up some boosters, and starting cranking cash, drugs, girls, and whatever else into their program. UNC is plenty fucking big enough on a national level, hell, they are top 3-5 every year (if not 1st) in gear sales and name recognition. A 30 for 30 would be perfect, and if the media gets ahold of enough info to make an interesting 1 hour special, trust me, the "lack" of UNC football prominance will have little to do with their decision to produce it.

^^again, I am not saying it "will" happen, just that if the facts/details become salacious enough the story could easily blow up on a national level. It has little to nothing to do with the local perception of unc football.

I hate all these press shenanigans they always wait out as long as they can to do these info releases, which make it hard for the press to get it out the information and opinions in the current news cycle so when they get it ends up being late or covered up by something else that came along.
