The entire timeline of their emotional display is what's so funny and schizo.

First, Blake didn't do anything wrong at all
Then, the money he took was friend to friend or to pay for his son's private school (he was broke after the 7 figure settlement from OU)
Then, ok, fine, he's a piece of shit, he was a rogue coach, ok we admit it.

^ So you're telling me he's back in their good graces now? ready to don the light blue and white? those guys

Haven't read the IC thread, but I assume they love the stuff on page 3 that paints Blake as just a poor guy living paycheck to paycheck, because he blew all of his money from the OK buyout and refused to sell his home. I don't think the NCAA is going to go along with that sob story though

I ordered State/UNC tickets through UNC's website a few years back. I guess I'm in their system. Got this email today.

Tar Heel Boosters and Fans,

By clicking here, you will be directed to our Department of Athletics' Compliance website, designed specifically for our program's supporters. Included as the first link on this website is the Department of Athletics' 2011-2012 Pocket Guide to NCAA Regulations for Alumni and Friends of Carolina Athletics, which can also be viewed as a pdf by clicking here.

It is our hope that this website and brochure will provide you with a fundamental understanding of NCAA regulations regarding the role of boosters within our athletics program. If, after reviewing the document, you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact our Compliance staff at 919-962-6000 or compliance@uncaa.unc.edu.

Thank you for your continued support of our athletics program. Go Heels!

Sincerely,

Amy Herman
Associate Athletics Director for Compliance

The smug looks on ALL of their faces going into that meeting on WRAL's website are infuriating.

They are smug because they know that regardless of what the NCAA asks the fans are going to

The only smoke today will be that being blown by former Tar Heels associate head coach John Blake as he pleads his case to the NCAA that he was guilty only of poor financial planning"

Not a bad read at newsobserver.

Curious to see how NCAA reacts to the fact that they can't talk to Butch because Carolina cut him loose before the meeting. Would think they would have to give Butch a show cause if for nothing else than to send a message to coaches that you have to come if you want to keep coaching.

^^ Only way that'd happen is if we hired a coach that could take advantage of UNC's probation and actually recruit some players here.

I think everyone here would rather find joy in State's success than UNC's failure...too bad there's very little of the former to derive much pleasure from. That's why we resort to the latter.

"Records show agent contacted Blake about Newton

By Erin Summers
Updated 5 minutes ago

The Montgomery Advertiser is reporting that a public records request made to Auburn University in search of documents regarding the NCAA investigation into Cam Newton's recruitment revealed that agent Kenny Rogers contacted John Blake about Cam Netwon.

"Kenny Rogers also contacted UNC assistant coach John Blake about Cam Newton, saying “I have three kids that love UNC.” The first was Newton. Rogers also mentioned DL Donald Langley and RB Justin Rogers," according to blogger Jay G. Tate.

According to Tate the release included an email from Rogers to Blake.

The blog continues that "Cam Newton, Auburn investigators concluded, 'only knew Rogers as an MSU alumnus who provided information to Cam’s father about MSU and, in particular, his perspective on being an African-American male in Starkville, Miss'.”"

So they were trying to sell Cam to UNC as well as Auburn? Would've been a hellacious year if UNC had paid enough to get him
