I've never had shrimp and grits

Where should I go to try them?

in Raleigh??? hmmmmm....tough question.

I might have to go with Humble Pie or 518 West.

in Chapel Hill: Crook's Corner

in Durham/Carrboro: Elmo's Diner

Is it bad I've never been to any of those restaurants?

Actually, I may have been to 518 West many years ago with my ex-boyfriend.

Lucky 32's in Cary or Big Easy on Fayetteville st.

Humble Pie would also be a good choice

had these a few weeks ago, and they were pretty bad

The Busy Bee has some dank shrimp and grits though.

In Durham, Blu Seafood and Watts St. Grocery do a good job. Haven't eaten alot of shrimp and grits in Raleigh.

^^damn that sucks, used to be my favorite when they had the Raleigh location, haven't tried the one in Cary yet (Raleigh one closed) but if it's bad then they aren't the same

my stepmom's

for restaurants though, I've only had them at Michael Deans and they were good, but there's no way they're the best.

Wow I'm surprised Lucky 32 is still around at all. I used to be neighbors with the owner and he always seemed like he was drunk

I don't think there is anything you could do to grits to make them appetizing to me- that gritty feeling gets me every time

I have tried shrimp and grits lots of places, Blu seafood's shrimp and grits is fairly simple, but good. They use fresh shrimp, but no sausage/sauce etc. The best I have found in this area is actually at Glenwood grill. Lucky32, not so much, michael deans is so so.

I don't know how I lived in Raleigh for almost 20 years and hadn't heard of Humble Pie until recently. Same goes for The Rockford.

Hayes Barton Cafe & Dessertery has them on occasion on their specials menu & they're pretty damn good.
