I don't get the love for Cloo's. Think their food is just OKAY, sliders I've had were all good but nothing to deserve a "best" title. They certainly put care into there food I guess, because they have some of the longest wait times for food in Raleigh, even when there's only two other people in the restaurant. It kind of perplexes me how they could be so slow.

I havent' gone there in years, mainly b/c I thought they were known for their hot dogs. and in my opinion their hot dogs aren't that great.

The wait times are pretty ridiculous, and one of the reasons I don't go more often. But the sliders are dank as hell.

I'm going to add Chuck's on Wilmington to the list. Right next to their sister restaurant Beasley's chicken and honey.

Really delicious. Really affordable. Comes from local cows.

Also Tribeca Tavern on Falls of the Neuse. A little more expensive, but I got a rare burger there the other day

i only ever see one dude cooking when i've gone to cloos. sometimes the chick is working on the fryer but that's about it. i don't go there when i'm in a hurry so the wait doesn't really bother me, especially since the food is pretty good. people have talked mad shit about the owner, though i haven't seen that side of him yet.

^I don't know if the owner (who I thought is the guy on the grill) is a terrible person or not (I remember shit-slinging but I thought that was Ruckus-love inspired) but he's the slowest person on a flat-top grill to ever own a fucking restaurant.

Painfully slow. I have to remember to not sit at the bar next time so I won't notice.

Ha. It's not even the best burger for fast food restaurants (Five Guys ftw), much less the best of all restaurants in Raleigh.

I'd eat Five Guys over Char Grill any day of the week. their fries are also way better.

Draft has some pretty good burgers. The Last Word at Chuck's is pretty awesome too.

i had a burger from raleigh times sunday night and it was mediocre at best. i was super disappointed because everyone on here had been saying how good their burgers are. maybe it was just an off night?

the times has been...underwhelming for a while now

they can't make rare or medium-rare burgers anymore, either. that was so crucial.

PR medium-rare Burnie Burger or Mushroom and Swiss

Pleasantly surprised at the quality of the Natty Greene's burger I had a few weeks ago. Swiss, fresh jalapenos, bbq sauce, and bacon ftw.

My current top 3.

1. PR
2. Cloos
3. Raleigh Times (favorite fries)

Quote :
"Each burger is rated on a scale of 1 to 5; an asterisk denotes a tie.

5. Johnson's (Siler City) - Average score: 4.50* - "Do yourself a favor, my friends. Go to Johnson’s soon. Get there early. Get that classic, humble, beautiful, delicious, American, quintessential cheeseburger and wash it down with a Pepsi. Savor the melted Velveeta. Then, drive among the pastures and fields along Highway 64. Get yourself one of these 4.5s and live the American dream. I implore you." - John

5. Barry's Cafe (Raleigh) - Average score: 4.50* - “Barry’s continues to get it right, with very nice American cheese, very fresh veggies, the very build order required, a very nice and traditional bun, and very nice attention to proportions and assembly to bring all of the very nice flavors together….This is a very, very, VERY good burger, people. Which is why I am resisting any urge to replace the word ‘very’ with ‘Barry,’ which would have been juvenile.” - John

4. Draft (Raleigh) - Average score: 4.58 - A haiku: The Blazin' Asian / Draft approaches perfection / Rating four point five - Michael

3. Buns (Chapel Hill) - Average score: 4.67 - “I suspected that the burger would be good, just not this good. Every bite of the exquisite Buns burger was a Dionysian commingling of flavors and juices that rang bells of delight through the hallowed annals of burgiatry, elevating me to a level of burgiatric pleasure seldom imagined. It was, simply, a celebration of life.” -Scott

2. Mojoe's Burger Joint (Raleigh) - Average score: 4.83 - “Wow. Yum. Man, that’s a good burger. Wow. Is this burger amazing, or is it just me? Yum num num. [Sigh.] Whew. Man, there’s just not a lot wrong with this burger. Yum num num. Yum num num num num. This has got to be a five. I mean, if this isn’t a great burger, what is? Yum.” Scott

1. Chuck's (Raleigh) - Average score: 5.00 - “Seekers on the path to enlightenment must pursue the Four Noble Truths. It can be very time-consuming. I suggest that those in search of enlightenment simply visit Chuck’s, where four other, easier, noble truths are posted on the menu: (1) half-pound 100% chuck, (2) house ground, (3) flat-top seared, (4) on a potato roll….This burger led this burgiatrist to true enlightenment.” - Michael"
