My brothers were a good amount older than me and never messed with me in the wrong way but I've been thinking about this recently.

Coming up I knew at least 4 sets of siblings that were around the same age and "tried things" on each other in the teenage years.

I wanted to make this creepy thread just because its bugging me to know if this is normal or common in America or just a huge coincidence that I saw a lot of it.

It's somewhat common with very young kids, but since a lot of parents will bathe siblings in the bathtub together if they're within a few years of age, and they generally are around each other a lot of the time, there's not a huge amount of mystery surrounding their sibling's body. But if the parents are really conservative and weird about it, like getting upset at all if a 3 year old brother sees his 4 year old sister naked for a second, then of course they're going to get massively curious.

As for older siblings, it's not *necessarily* harmful if they don't have kids. (Though even if they did have kids, there's a decent chance the kids will be perfectly normal genetically, assuming it's a one-off thing within the family.) The most damaging thing would be the trauma to the rest of the family. But I think generally that would point to a very weird family situation, because it's pretty unnatural for humans to be able to just disregard the taboo of incest.

not common, there are built-in aversions to having sexual aversion to your siblings. I remember seeing a study posted on this on TWW a while back.

google shows several, here's one article about it:

obviously, there will be outliers, but rarely will two siblings who were raised together be even capable of having sexual interest in each other.

The 'kin detector' has been broken in places such as kentucky and West Virginia, however.

physiologically, i have no problem with step-siblings fooling around or having sex

psychologically, it depends...if they're step-siblings since they were, i don't know, 4 years old, it's just as messed up as biological siblings messing around or having sex

if they became siblings when they were in their teens or tweens or whatever, i don't think it's a huge deal, though i can't see it working out well if it's anything BUT fooling around (and even then, i think it's difficult to make a blanket statement)

it's human nature to be curious, especially sexually. as a young child entering the tween/teen stages that curiosity continues to grow. it makes sense that siblings who are close to one another and confide in each other would consider experimentation with each other, in a sense it's almost like "why not?" and i don't believe this is an American thing but rather a human thing. i think it happens and can happen anywhere in the world in any culture. and some cultures are probably more accepting of it than others would be.

and for the record, i know a set of identical twin sisters who used to mess around with each other growing up for the exact purposes of experimentation; they've even had 3somes together once they got older.

i knew a set of twins like that, but they even traded guys.

when i was in elementary school there were these two sisters I used to hang out with. they played a game with each other called "kissing privates" while my friend and I got to watch and kiss their parts some too. while we saw it only that one time it was a pretty common thing for them.
