Is there anything I can put under my desk to keep the cat away?? He keeps aggravating me and has taken to shitting under the desk. I just want him to stay at least 20ft away.

Move the litter box.

For serious, try and mix some hot pepper/hot spices and water and put it in a spray bottle. We do that to get cats to stop eating indoor plants.

Hes mad at you. You need to understand cat psychology. He sees that area as a "your area" and is letting you know hes mad.

Make sure litterbox is clean, and give him attention. Also did you change his food anytime recently?

Be happy its not on your bed. Normally they do it there if this happens.

This.

I'm convinced that many people simply don't "connect" with their cats. It's not just some accessory, or hobby -- it's a living part of your family. If you maintain a healthy and empathic relationship with your cat, with an emphasis on communication and trust, guess what? They love you and don't shit or piss on your stuff. The same is true with dogs chewing up your stuff.

Love your pets, and they will love you back.

Cats are pretty much like women, if they don't like you they'll try and fuck up your life, rather than just biting you or something.

I'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.

you can buy one of those plug-in cat destresser things. it's supposed to calm the cat's nerves if they're acting up. you can get them at petsmart. you plug it into the room where the cat is showing "abnormal" behavior.

also, are you working more? it could be that the cat is upset that youre not giving it as much attention as before. also, make sure the litter box is clean (like people have mentioned) and you have food and water in it's bowl. my one cat likes to shit on the floor when there's no food in her bowl.

I was out of town and it shit under the desk (based on feedback here it was possibly mad I was out of town)

Today it jumped on the desk and I put it back on the floor, it likes to park its fat ass in front of the screen and sit on the keyboard......10 minutes later the smell of fresh shit begins to permeate the room. I am pretty sure it shit in the corner while I was sitting here, I guess in its own special way saying fuck you.

I put it outside.

Nothing to see here, folks.

Str8BacardiL is trolling.

He already knows that the answer is to give the cat proper attention.
But, instead, he makes a thread about it to see if he can troll us.
Note how in the original post, he uses 2 masculine pronouns for the cat -- but now uses "it".
He's hoping some of us will be all, "OMG! NO!"

Weak trolling.

But now, he will deny it. Just watch.

Get a sounds of nature CD and crank the track that has thunder/rain. Hopefully that will send him into hiding.

To all you people saying he needs to give attention to the cat and all that shit. Grow a fucking pair. It's a cat. They need to understand your life doesn't revolve around it. If the cat is upset you're working more or not able to spend your life giving it attention, tough shit. They'll learn to adjust.

This is why I fucking hate cats. If it's a dog, and it's bother you, you do 1 of 2 things. Yell at it, or force it to get away from you (and no, I don't mean hitting the dog). Just like children, pets need to know their boundaries.

If the room has a door, I would simply toss the cat out and close the door.

As mentioned before, cats hate citrus, so just eat a few oranges and save the peels. Leave the peels around the area that the cat keeps messing with. If you don't care about the carpet, spray a little bit of orange juice around the area.

Cats also hate having thing stuck to them, so you could lay down some duct tape and when the cat walks over it, it will get the hint.

Damn, duct tape? That's a little overboard. I'd go with painter's tape.

haha, what?

If you want to give the cat attention, just pick the fucker up and pet him. It's fucking easy. Just make sure you don't set him in your lap immediately after he's taken a shit on your floor.

Also, is this cat not litterbox trained? I've never heard of one just shitting wherever it pleases when there's a litterbox accessible somewhere else (unless it's sick, sometimes that makes them shit in random spots).

Damn you're a pussy.

I guess you let your pets walk all over you. Pets, specifically dogs and cats, are manipulative. Sometimes you have to put your foot down and not put up with their shit.

And if you read what I'm saying, I'm not advocating neglect for your pet. I'm advocating independence for your pet. Nobody likes a needy pet who never leaves you alone. I have known several dogs and cats who have been like that, and they were annoying as fuck. It's because the owner is a complete slave to their pet.

But then again, those who are slaves to their animals never realize it themselves. I just hope they don't have children. We have enough spoiled brats in this world.
