I have always wanted to name a pet a different type of animal. My friend calls my cat Puppy. And my ex's sister had a snake named Kitten.

I refer to my creatures one of two ways: "Quadruped" or "You, with the fur"

I don't bother to differentiate the cat or the 2 dogs. I expect all furries to fall-in when beckoned. Usually it's either feeding time, or wrestling time. Cars and 4-wheelers the dogs report and the cat chills, as expected.
