I have a mac air (newest version) and I need a router that will give me a reliable connection within my townhouse but still be compatible wirelessly with Xbox360 (I use a lot for Netflix streams) and occasionally PC's...I was thinking about an Apple Airport Extreme but I'm worried it won't interact well the Xbox/PC's...anyone have any suggestions?

why would you think that it wouldn't interact well with Xbox/PCs?

I'm refraining from posting a really snarky comment right now.

The real question is why shell out for the apple product? Did you think the computer won't work on a wireless N or equivalent from best buy for 1/2 the cost?

^ but that would not appease the Great Steve Jobs

why would you need an airport? just go buy a belkin or linksys or something cheaper. i have a belkin router, imac, netbook running osx, iphone, ps3, wii, & husband's work pc all on the name network and they all place nice.

Sorry i didn't mean to imply i needed an airport. This was just the most recent thread on routers and I figured i'd ask about linksys or similar routers. Just didn't know if anyone had any suggestions on a good wireless N router.

I just bought the high end netgear n6000 or something like that, and it is amazing. Dual band and 2 guest networks. Easy nas setup (doesn't work with HFS formated drives though). For about 30 bucks cheaper than the airport extreme, I would say go for it. The only thing the extreme really has going for it is the ability to plug in a usb hub into the back of it and have all your networked devices shared quickly and easily.

I agree, I've got like 7 Mac devices and a nintendo running off of a high-end netgear.

I'm also in the market for a new wireless router...is the idea still to look for a cheap buffalo model?

The N router from Buffalo is great.I have the 3700 from Netgear...it's pretty pimp with DDWRT
