Got a ticket on the way back from Bel Chere on 40 East going 88 in a 65.

first speeding ticket in 6 years or so.

I was passing an eighteen wheeler trying to get around before an exit, traffic was easily moving 80 or so and I made the pass and returned lanes and slowed but was clocked by an undercover officer.

I know I could get a PJC or at least get it reduced and take the driving class to get rid of the points, but wouldn't mind seeing what a lawyer could do for me.

any suggestions?

Talk to a DA about reducing it to 9 over and pay the fine. It will give you license points, but won't go against ur insurance. It will be cheaper than a lawyer.

Tell them you promise to have breakfast at a Biscuitville and/or to stop by the farmer's market in Saxapahaw. That should earn you some brownie points.
