they shouldn't need to turn fully in the normal sense of a bus or vehicle.

the wheels should be able to rotate 90 degrees so the vehicle can move laterally to the opposite 'lane', re-track itself, and then be able to go the opposite way. I don't know if i articulated that as clearly as I envision it in my head.

Yeah, but they won't be making any turns at intersections.

These aren't really like busses at all, more like elevated streetcars.

i hope drivers driving around these are better than ones around here. this shit wouldn't work here, i could see dumbasses with big trucks just not paying attention and taking out those height poles randomly placed in lanes to keep small cars in that lane

Honestly, if you consider that most vehicles on Chinese roads are not crashworthy (See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHZqcKj7jNM) and the mentality that life is expendible, people probably won't mind driving around in these things.
