I don't think you understand what a meme is, lewisje. It's an idea that is easily communicated to others through an easily imitable vector.

"Rage quit" is just an expression. It's a particularly evocative one, though. You pretty much have an idea what it means even if you've never heard it before. It's a tool in Solinari's arsenal.

You see, the meme here is the idea that Optimum got dramatically upset at something and posted that he wasn't going to post in the Soap Box anymore. True or false? Doesn't matter. The point of a meme is to take a bit of information, regardless of its accuracy, and get as many people to internalize and repeat it as possible.

So Solinari has used this evocative phrase because it's descriptive and easy to repeat ("ha ha, this dude RAGE QUIT the Soap Box"), which of course encourages people infected by the meme to repeat it. It spreads like a disease, you see. The more people who talk about it ("did you hear [user]Optimum rage quit the Soap Box?), the further it goes, and more people are likely to believe it.
