The last time I checked with my bank, Wachovia, there was a $20 charge to exchange money unless it was a branch inside an airport that kept foreign currency on hand. I haven't run across any banks that don't require an account where its a low-fee service.

If I exchange with someone directly, we both come out on top in terms of not paying fees. The cash has been in my wallet for the past six months and I'm not pressed to exchange it anytime soon. If there aren't any takers, I'll just bump the thread in the week before the winter holidays.

If anyone knows of a bank that'll exchange for less than 9% or $10, I'd appreciate the info.
