I am taking the train from Charleston to Selma and have been doing research on the area where the Charleston Amtrak Station is. Apparently its in a really bad area and people don't suggest parking there. I am leaving Thursday Morning and coming back Saturday Afternoon. I am looking for alternative parking that wont cost me an arm and a leg. Looked at the airport, they want $15 a day plus the cab ride will be about $15 as well. Does anyone else have any other ideas?
Also anyone have any personal experiences with leaving a car there or anything short term?
Thanks Guys 8/10/2010 10:05:22 AM |

That take a cab and have any friends thing would be great if I wasn't already driving 2 hours to the train station, AKA I do not live in Charleston, or SC at all even. Basically I have to leave my car somewhere in Charleston and I am trying to spend as little as possible to do it. 8/10/2010 12:06:11 PM |

sounds like you shouldn't be departing from Charleston. 8/10/2010 12:07:01 PM |

Park Circle is one of the few nice areas in North Charleston and it is close to the Amtrak station. Just leave your car parked somewhere around there and get a cab. 8/10/2010 12:09:00 PM |

There is probably another stop not too far from Charleston that is not horrible. 8/10/2010 12:39:07 PM |

I don't really know where you could park around park circle though, the areas immediately around park circle aren't great either. 8/10/2010 2:07:33 PM |

If you're already driving 2 hours to Charleston, it seems like it wouldn't be that bad to just keep on going up to Selma 8/10/2010 2:14:31 PM |

See if there is a hospital or medical center nearby that you can leave your car at, and then take a cab to the station. 8/10/2010 3:25:36 PM |

Basically I will be getting picked up in Selma and riding to Charlotte with my fiance. We will end up back in Charleston on Saturday evening. By me dropping my car off near the train station it saves her the 4 hours round trip it would take to bring me back to Savannah on Sunday before heading back home to NC. Selma just happens to be the closest stop to where she works. 8/10/2010 4:15:51 PM |
