This is a lie. This is obviously a big, fat lie.
And I hope to goodness that poor kid doesn't have genital herpes on his mouth. I saw someone with it, and that stuff doesn't just look disgusting but extremely painful as well. 8/26/2010 4:54:19 PM |

why would somebody make that up? I've had some subpar maid service in supposedly upscale hotels, and it seems to be pretty standard at cheapies. 8/26/2010 4:57:05 PM |

^^They would make it up to
1) explain how their child has herpes.
And/Or
2) sue the motel.
The kid in that picture is grownish. So I doubt he really did put a used condom in his mouth. And, if he did put it in his mouth, herpes is generally spread skin-to-skin--not from semen, blood, saliva, etc... If this kid somehow magically got it from a rather old used condom, how come I haven't gotten it when my lazy ass sits on a public toilet seat? And why wouldn't they have switched hotel rooms after they realized the sheets were dirty?
The kid may have something, but I doubt he got it from the used condom. I suspect they are either lying or perhaps mistaken. 8/26/2010 5:11:39 PM |

think about the amazing, appalling stupidity of adults

Okay, he looked older than that.
It is very possible that the condom incident occurred. But he definitely didn't get herpes from it. 8/26/2010 5:20:05 PM |

haha, apparently there is a common virus that gives children blisters in the mouth that is spread by fecal or respiratory means.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herpangina
I guess it still could have come from the condom. 8/26/2010 5:20:22 PM |

UPDATE
http://www.cbsatlanta.com/news/24737167/detail.html
The kid has oral herpes. Tons of kids have oral herpes. It's kinda nice to get it young cause the chance of an outbreak is pretty much zero by the time you're old enough to care. And these parents/grandparents are silly for not wanting to give him kisses anymore. A doctor needs to set them straight.
Furthermore, he did not get oral herpes from an old, used condom left in the room. Herpes is not spread through blood, semen, etc... It is spread through skin-to-skin contact and much, much, much more rarely outside the body but only for a matter of minutes (and that's in a perfect storm-type situation).
The only way this kid got oral herpes from a condom is if somebody stripped that condom off their organ and this child immediately picked it up and put it in his mouth, which means for the used condom story to stick, grandma better fess up that it was her condom from the sex she was having with somebody else in that room.
He most likely got it the way most kids do--from a family member giving him a peck or sharing a drink with him.

The risk for infection is highest with direct contact of blisters or sores during an outbreak." |

very very very fortunate. 9/15/2010 10:03:04 AM |

^^Obviously, the virus can easily get into those fluids. But the virus doesn't live long enough without a suitable host (body temperature/moist) to be spread without skin-to-skin contact.
If this weren't the case, then herpes would be even more prevalent than it is now. I mean, a dude with herpes could take a leak, not wash his hands, then come out and shake your hand. You rub your eyes cause they itch, and OMG, you gotta genital herpes on your face! In fact, that scenario is more plausible than this used condom shit.
^I am fortunate that I got the oral herpes when I was a young G. I think I had my last sore when I was in elementary. 9/15/2010 10:49:51 AM |
