It's been months since I made a thread in Chit Chat and I feel like complaining.

I have to stay up all night tonight so I'm adjusted enough to work this Friday-Monday night 6pm-6am. This will help pass the time.

The following is my 5 week rotating schedule. D = Days, N = Nights, X = Day off

You know what you do? You enjoy the fuck out of it. Enjoy the fact that since most people are at work, you can run most errands without worries of lines (except typical rush hour traffic and lunch time breaks) Traffic will be light throughout the day... Go shopping in the mall. Run a few errands. Sleep in. Don't bitch about a day off.

having weekdays off is nice

its way easier to get shit done because everyone is at work.

read, work out, run errands...do the normal shit you'd do on a weekend except if you go run errands places aren't packed.

Being off on a Tuesday doesn't really bother me too much. The Day/Nights rotation is a bummer though. Switching from one to the other sucks.

sorry you have a such a crappy schedule

before grad school i was Mon-Sat 7am-1:30pm. it was really nice in some ways having so much free time every afternoon/evening, but the trade off was never having a real weekend.

before i was on that schedule i was doing about 45 to 55 hours a week, randomly with the schedule changing from week to week between 7am to 7pm, and was also on call, so giving up sat was a worthwhile trade off to have a consistent schedule. but i went for a year without ever knowing what i'd be doing next week schedule wise.

i appreciate the college schedule a great deal more with grad school now than i was able to in undergrad having worked full time for a few years in between.

^^I'm an auxiliary operator at Shearon Harris. Security at our place works 4 on and 4 off. They usually volunteer for who's nights or days.

You need to find some friends in the food and beverage industry.

For the past year, my nights off have been Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesdays and I love it. I hate going out on crowded weekends. I don't like having to make reservations at restaurants and going out early in the week negates having to do that.

It only kinda sucks if you're single. Easier to go out and get some strange when you have a bigger pool to pick from.

This fall I'll be working 6 days most weeks, but I should be able to catch more of the big college games on the TV here. Not an ideal situation, but fuck it.

rotating shift work is one of the several reasons i have absolutely NO desire to be an operator at a nuclear power plant. but some people like it, and it seems like there is the potential to make bank.

^^ the only problem with that (on a large scale, not necessarily on an individual basis, and not necessarily in every industry) is studies have shown that productivity generally decreases with shifts that long

4 10-hour shifts is no less efficient than 5 8-hour shifts, and the company has the added savings of shutting down the building for an extra day so as to save in utilities
