I had to take an African studies class and short of having to memorize every county in Africa, it was one of the easiest classes I ever took. There's an easy two years worth of classes to take in that subject so that shouldn't be too hard. Lastly, as far as writing papers go, unless it was for an English class, most professors or better yet TA's could care less about what you write.....JUST PUT SOMETHING DOWN ON PAPER. Most papers I wrote were opinions. There was no right or wrong answer therefore no passing or failing based on content. If you turned it in you were going to pass....PERIOD. I've always said I should write a book about how to graduate from UNC with minimal effort. If these football players can work around or avoid the hard classes there is absolutely no excuse to need to cheat or need a tutor for that matter to remain eligible to play if that's their intention. Save the tutors for the one's who really care about school."

Here's the real picture...UNC is one of the top 5 public schools in the country, along with UVA, Michigan, Cal and UCLA. They're proud of that, and they're going to take care of their own, to make sure they get the best jobs, and to make sure they're always seen as better than State and comparable to Duke and Wake. Grade Fixing has been going on for decades, and no one with UNC's best interests in their mind would ever take steps to prevent it.

I think an education is primarily based on the effort an individual puts into it not on their area of study or even the institution where they studied

Yeah that is prety much wrong. Maybe in joke fields like PRT, but not in engineering. I genuinely learned a ton while at State. There is no way I could do my job well now without things I learned in college.

and grade fixing is a big issue at many schools. it's no secret that the likes of harvard and yale do so; and it wouldn't surprise me if unc did it on a massive scale either.

This. I sure as shit didn't kill myself going to grad school while working full-time to get more educated. I did it to make myself more attractive to big money jobs in the future. Period. End of story.

Sure there are idealist out there who genuinely want to be further educated, but I'm not one of them and I'm not in the minority.

You're arguing that pursuing a higher education and a higher compensation are equal pursuits. Most people focus on learning on the the necessary skills for their desired profession. Very rare is the person who wants to learn something just for the sake of learning.

Well, the last US News & World Reports had UVa, Wake and UNC all ranked within five of each other. Obviously Duke will always be looked at as a better school than those.
