As many of you may have seen me post I work for a nonprofit that designs websites for (usually) other nonprofits in the area. In order to maintain our nonprofit status we have to regularly have our websites appraised from professionals in the business (someone who has an actual business or works for a company.)
Basically the skinny is we take the appraised value and use it to determine the dollar-figure amount we report as donated to the bean counters.
For instance. We work out a deal with a soup kitchen that we'll take care of their website for basically minimum wage ($8/hr.) They get a slick website built, we try to get the amount covered in donations (so they have little/no cost.) In the end we get it appraised. If we collected $500 for the site and it appraised for $2000, then we report $1500 to the IRS that our organization made a direct donation to their organization, and that the other $500 came as a donation to us.
So I need a volunteer to check out a recent collection of sites we've worked on and to provide an appraised value. Click around the site, see what features it has, etc. For instance calendars and flash-based animations take longer to program than just simple animation. We also contract original artwork - one in particular only has 5 pages, but the background artwork was pretty sweet.
If you're interested please reply or PM - it would be super appreciated. Also, you'll receive a tax write-off based on the time you spent (most likely it will take you about 20 minutes, and we can only write in 1-hour increments.) It's basically like making a donation of around $40 to help us out, and if you itemize taxes uncle-sam will give you cash back in thanks.
Thanks everyone! 8/31/2010 3:40:27 AM |
