I use this one all the time. But I got it from my dad, and we are from PA. So it's not technically a country saying9/3/2010 9:39:50 PM |

using "wide open" as an adjective to describe a kid/person
I still don't quite understand that one.

My dad always said "directly" as if it were a time. And I've caught myself doing a few times.
"I'm just going up the road a bit. I'll be back directly"
Also I say "fixing" a lot. "I'm fixing to go the store, does anyone need anything?"
There's several more that I'm not remembering at the moment. My grandma uses these southern-isms, or whatever you want to call them, all the time. And I pick them up from her and my dad. Then there are some (like "honey") that I never realized were country/southern phrases until I ventured out in the world.
Remember a few: My grandma always says "study". She uses it like the word "think" kind of. "I didn't know what was wrong with the TV, so I studied that I must have hit a button on the remote" She also says "aim to". "Are you going to the grocery store today?" "I aim to". I've always heard "fitting" as an adjective a lot, meaning good. "How was dinner?" "It was fitting" (different from saying "how fitting" or something like that)
