you should feel lucky to take this class with Buckner, I didn't get in a single Buckner class the whole time I was at State.

He's very organized and knows his stuff, but there is no reason to feel lucky about having him... When the majority fail his tests, there is something wrong...

You did not have him, and you graduated... Hmmm, wonder if that is saying something...

I had him for 208. I thought the tests were pretty simple and straight forward with the exception of one problem on his final. I ended up with a B or so in the class.

I don't see it as bad that the majority of the class fails his tests. MAE 208 is still what I consider a weeder course. You have a lot of people who scraped through in MAE 206/CE214 who take this class, which if you take in account the normal amount of people who simply fuck up a test, I don't see what the problem is.

You buy a packet of notes and you have to go to class to fill it out. If you don't go to class and you're lost because you didn't fill out the notes, then I guess you're just shit out of luck.

buckner's probably the single best mae professor i ever had at state. he knows his stuff, he can explain it well, and he's willing to help you...that combination doesn't come around very often.

and dynamics is a weed-out course, so of course people are going to fail. but doing the homework and showing up at office hours will go a long way

I had Wu for 208. He was an awful teacher. One time, Wu was out for some reason and he had Buckner fill in for him and give the lecture for one class. That day, everyone in the class understood the material so much better than they ever had before in the class.
