So yeah, the puppy I made a thread about a month ago died in my arms tonight. Collapsed on the floor and pooped herself.
RIP Roxy

what more details are necessary? I got home to my parents' house, cause they were taking care of her for the week. Took her out for a poop and a piss and then walked her down the street a little bit. Got her back inside, and 5 minutes later she started breathing erratically. She then straightened out and pooped herself. 9/10/2010 8:28:13 AM |

I sort of had a feeling that I was trying to ignore that it was coming, because he hadn't been eating much of anything this week. He went through a phase a month or so ago where he was eating a lot less, but then he started eating more again, so I was hoping it wasn't the case. But I went to check on him this morning and he didn't meow when I went in there, and then I knew. 9/10/2010 9:08:45 AM |

very very sad to hear this...did you talk to the breeder? (assuming that you got her from a breeder)
I hope this wasn't something hereditary 9/10/2010 10:03:05 AM |

haha not really
but she has ears that prick up, not floppy ones like that
I think she might have had her ears clipped as a puppy. 9/10/2010 10:37:35 AM |

seriously, talk to the breeder. they may want you to get a necropsy, figure out what happened so they can attempt to prevent it from happening again. some of them are so adamant about that that they will pay for it. it could potentially save other puppies from suffering and other owners from heart break. 9/10/2010 11:02:02 AM |

Sorry for your loss. My rabbit had a stroke and died in my arms, I was devastated. Had a grown man cry. I didnt realize I loved the little guy so much until I had to let him go. 9/12/2010 8:38:53 PM |

I held Khan (My pekingese) as he was dying. I wouldn't have it any other way. It's misfortunate any time your pet is about to die, however, I feel honored (not sure what word I'm looking for here) to be there with them in the end knowing that I am making them as comfortable as I can and that they know they are loved.
I am sorry for your loss.
