if it was closer to my house, I'd probably be going there every day

Kinda a lot of yogurt action going on. 9/10/2010 8:42:44 PM |

They are everywhere in california. I kind've wondered why they hadn't caught on everywhere else? Its like business people outside of california see all types of ideas and say "nah, that would be too good"
These are self serve places, correct? 9/11/2010 9:00:50 AM |

i have heard this place is good, haven't tried yet though.
i'm more excited about going somewhere like marmalade skies. one of the best parts in gboro was this place called feeney's. it is a self serve place with like a million flavors and then a million toppings and they do it by weight.
first experienced the glory in NYC last summer. its like fro yo world up there. but this place called 16 handles blew my mind and when i came back to NC i was very sad until i discovered that places like feeney's and MS DO exist here.
anyway, i still want to try fresh berry though. 9/13/2010 12:34:30 AM |

SD and CA has had fro yo for a few years now. I am surprised it just hit over there. I love yogurtland out here. its the best.
all places are self serve and majority are .30-.33 an ounce. 9/13/2010 12:54:41 AM |

Non-fat usually means taste is compensated by adding TONS more sugar. Probably the HFCS shit too. On their website, a 4 oz. serving has between 20-25 g sugar. You really think most people self-serve just 4 oz?9/13/2010 3:23:23 AM |

Pink Berry is huge in NYC and does a ton of business, but their franchise fees are too high, so now you're seeing a slew of Pink Berry knockoffs all over the country.9/13/2010 11:38:49 AM |

My avg serving is about $2.50 (with toppings). ~6.5 oz. I'd say the 4 oz avg serving (w/out toppings) is about right. 9/13/2010 3:52:09 PM |

i wouldn't call fro yo that healthy. esp with the toppings. but i DO like it better than icecream (consistency wise i guess) 9/13/2010 5:06:25 PM |

I would say fro yo is as healthier than reg. ice cream. Add everything else and ya fro yo is like a plain salad, then you add dressing and everything else and its an easy way for the salad to become unhealthy. 9/13/2010 6:54:01 PM |

^^ that is definitely true.
how many flavors does fresh berry have? it looks just like 4 or 5. i like ones with lots of flavors. i'm not HUGE on toppings so i like a variety of flavors. but i <3 fruit toppings. blackberries, blueberries and raspberries please. typically on NY cheesecake fro yo. omnom.
but i don't think that exists at fresh berry, even though i still wanna try it.
also wanna go here: http://www.marmaladeskiesfy.com/
edit: and by fruit toppings i mean actual fruit, not the syrupy type stuff.

Or you can stumble in there tonight like me and get some free yogurt at the friends and family opening and then act really confused when the owner asks if he knows you. 10/20/2010 8:31:01 PM |

Went to Fresh Berry for the first time, at the first Fresh Berry branch (just a kiosk actually) in the city.
Had a blackberry and raspberry smoothie with the Freshberry Tart. It was fucking amazing.
If people (and the company) are talking about it being healthy and all, why the hell do they have those candy and cookie toppings? Nasty, if you ask me, especially considering that there are so many real fruit toppings. It is silly to go there and boast that you are eating something healthier than ice cream and then put 64 candy toppings on it.
I looked on their site for info about owning a franchise... it will cost at least $165,000 10/25/2010 3:39:48 PM |

The fact that it is non fat actually makes it unhealthy (too much sugar --> high GI). If they had blended in a bit of mono-unsaturated fat (olive oil, almond oil, etc) in there, say, 5 grams per serving, that would not only give you the benefit of the healthy oil, but it would also drastically reduce the GI.
And they say they have live cultures in their product, but I couldn't find any numbers on the count of live organisms. Do you have any info? Regardless, for it to be 'medicinal' in maintaining good digestive health, you would have to get some serious numbers, like around 20-30 billion live units (the number in a capsule of a good probiotic) per serving, which is just impossible, because then the product would cost way too much. So yeah, it is NOT medicinal.
As for your other 2 points, the 1st is your opinion, and the 2nd... they don't have even a quarter of the flavors you would find at BR.
Overall, a good product, but you are making it out to be something it is not.10/26/2010 7:57:14 AM |
