I mean, I'm not trying to be insensitive, and I know this isn't the first time anyone's said this, but

far worse things have happened in the course of human history that barely get a mention

I don't see why this has to be dwelled upon and constantly remembered

Think about it though. This was a set of people that never had to wonder if they would make it through the day. They never had to fear something would imminently drop out of the sky and send them to a fiery death. The only fear Americans had ever tasted was the idea that a nuclear war might happen. But there was never imminent danger. No shots had been fired on home turf in almost 2 hundred years

9/11 was one day with a SMALL taste of the life of the millions of minorities, foreigners and natives they'd been instilling far worse fear into for hundreds of years.

This is chit chat and all, so anything goes.
But, I for one will never forget and never forgive.

It doesn't. But it did happen in one of the more recognizable and upscale major cities in the entire world. Things of this magnitude very rarely to never happen in a city of New York's fame and scale. Sure, awful stuff happens everyday in Africa and in the Middle East but typically not in a city like this.

Personally, I dwell on it and remember it because I was born in New York city, my family is from New York City (and many still live there) and I grew up 45 miles outside of the city and was in it three or four times a month.

I never really thought about terrorism for any period of time during the 2 years I lived in NYC

I never think about it either when I'm there. Just like I never thought of the possible of earthquakes when I was on BART or working in the Financial District in SF.

If it's going to happen, it's going to happen.
