while individual LEOs have some flexibility in their leniency, it is often set by the department, local gov't, or local people, or a combination of. while i think putting drug offenders in jail is stupid and criminalizing weed possession is stupid, i would never blame the cops for this. if they follow the law to enforce the law, then all is well on that end. the problem lies with lawmakers, not cops. that's like blaming the waiter for your overdone steak.... sure, they were involved somewhere within the process, but you're really just trying to say fuck the entire system by blaming the waiter when the chef is the problem. or, you're like one of those dicks that blames a cop when you get a speeding ticket. Go about change correctly. I don't openly carry my pistol in to restaurants that serve alcohol because i think the law preventing that is stupid and shouldn't be enforced.

Im pretty sure they just report the photos that they want to. Seems like all of the crimes are drug/robbery. I cant imagine that these are all of the arrests for the day. You hardly ever see DUI or other common crimes on there.

You can look it up through the NC courts system website. Normally I google NC Courts, go to the link and then search through the criminal records.

if you shake a knife at someone in a threatening manner that places them in imminent apprehension, that's assault w/ a deadly weapon and an A-1 misdemeanor (highest misd. level).

if you inflict serious injury, as seedless said, it's a felony.

those are two distinct crimes and are punished appropriately, imho.

there are some real dumb statutory delineations, but that isn't one of them.

an example of some retarded shit: snatch an xbox game and run out of the store = misdemeanor larceny. class 1 misdemeanor.

snatch the same xbox game, rip off the anti-theft device attached to the product, and exit the store = class I felony.

this just went into effect in the last 2 years or so, and tons of high school kids are now racking up felony charges because they rip off the sensor on clothes, a cd or video game. most have no idea they're engaging in an act that's going to heighten their charge and virtually guarantee they end up with at least a misdemeanor on their record after it's plead down.

the other kid who did virtually the same thing, but was a little more dumb in their commission of the act has a misdemeanor that's plead down to a b.s. charge and likely expunged at a later date with a minor community service type of sentence.
