So our pool has become completely unusuable during the summer because of the children in the gov't sponsored housing walking down the street and crashing our pool everyday.

It didn't used to be a big deal as they'd keep to themselves and honestly the pool is a pretty good size given the amount of people that frequent it.

However, this year they did lots of damage (spray paint, broken gate, had to close the pool several times, etc) and harrassed the members of the community with verbal threats and just general poorspeak that no one wants to hear. Usually they refuse to leave until the police get there even when they've been identified as non-residents.

So I check my mail and there is an assessment referendum where we have to vote on spending $21,000 to put up a taller fence that probably still won't keep these little boofers out.

I'm just opposed to anything coming out of my pocket, can't we just put up a sign that says you will be arrested for trespassing if you're within the fence without a resident present?

It's such a no-win situation when you're there because if you get involved they know where you live, potentially what you drive, and threatening violence back against a minor is illegal as far as I know...

I would honestly beat all their asses, then all the cops and tell them the trespassers were fighting with the neighborhood children. Get the cop's name or badge number and call him back directly every time they come back. After a few calls he'll get tired of it and charge them with something or tell you to fuck off.

It's worth a try anyway. If they did get charged with trespassing they'd probably get probation unless they have records so it wouldn't do much.

Are you sure you aren't having to replace the fence to meet new height regulations? We had to do this for our 'hood but we were lucky in that only a portion of the fence was below the limit. Still, it's pretty ridiculous to think raising a fence from 42" to 46" is going to do a hole lot to stop someone from gaining entry if they really want in.

Btw, I was told this regulation was the result of the case that Edwards litigated where the girl had here intestines sucked out but I don't know if that is true or not. It's likely the NC Fence Builders Lobby pushed for it on dubious grounds.

that sucks that you have to pay extra to keep trash out of your pool. I'm guessing you live near campus. It's unfortunate that the housing authority zones the projects right beside all of the University housing.

When I lived off Gorman I had hobos walk up on my deck during parties trying to get beer or whatever and we'd give them some and ask them to leave and then they'd threaten us. Same thing happened to friends off Kent. They actually had two guys come and try to pimp off some girl named "Vicious" to us and we just didn't know how to get them to leave because if we called the cops the party was busted but letting them stay was bound to cause a fight/theft.
