my video card doesnt have HDMI out, so I'm trying to look for the most convenient way to get video + audio out of my PC to HDMI. does something like this exist? 9/18/2010 1:20:29 PM |

Isn't HDMI encrypted? I read something this week about it finally being hacked.
[Edited on September 18, 2010 at 1:35 PM. Reason : I guess dvi and hdmi are both hdcp encrypted.] 9/18/2010 1:34:38 PM |

i reckon something like a DVI to HDMI cable would work for the video only, then audio from the headphone jack...

HDMI has a DVI mode for computer displays. If your video card supports it you can still display HDCP protected content through DVI. A lot of new flat panels have a PC input that takes HDMI and a separate audio jack but if you don't have that then it's not as simple as you'd probably like.
Personally I would use it as an excuse to upgrade the graphics card. 9/18/2010 2:15:34 PM |

Yea, I have the audio routed straight to the surround sound system. You'd need some sort of encoder to make it work (for instance if you had a receiver you could run the video and the audio into and have it put the signal out over HDMI). 9/18/2010 3:01:17 PM |

Yes it exists, it's called a A/V Receiver. No there is not 2 dollar cable solution. 9/20/2010 6:53:56 PM |
