Hey,

I want to completely reset the landscaping for my yard and need help with design and choice of plants that will work for my area and conditions. I live in S. Durham (near Brier Creek) and have a pretty small lot (.17 acre).

I was curious if a couple landscaping students would be willing to submit a design/consultation with the chosen designer getting $200. I'm posting a feeler first to see if that's fair or not. If not, I apologize for my ignorance.

Thanks.

OK. So what would be a fair way to handle it? I'm seriously asking for advice.

1. Review student portfolios
2. Gather estimates
3. ...
4. Profit!

But asking someone to work on the off chance that they MIGHT get paid is a dick move.

^yep. Why should I put in several hours designing an awesome urban landscape just to see you go with some out-of-left-field lotus garden? I prefer getting paid.

OK, thanks for the advice. I promise I wasn't trying to pull any dick moves, but I definitely see where you're coming from. Makes sense. I think I was thinking like one of these design TV shows where they choose from submissions or whatever.

Allrighty then, back to reality.

My budget is in the $200-$300 range. Can I get some portfolio submissions or websites?

Thanks again for the info, guys.
