Around 6:30 I was on Hillsborough Street crossing from the bell tower to go to Loco pops. Before I could cross I saw an accident happen at the round about (big surprise there) because the person turning from Hillsborough onto Pullen merged into the far left. There was a lot of damage to both cars and the whole thing looked rather serious.

The part that really got to me was that a cop was coming through the round about at the same moment, and rather than stop to investigate or see if people were injured he sped up and fled the scene so he wouldn't have to deal with it.

I wish I had gotten the license plate of that cop car so that I could report him, but overall I'm bothered that officers rather bust underage kids drinking because they get a pat on the back for that rather than manage the safety of those they're sworn to protect.

Strawberry Lemonade Poppyseed.

As I said, the accident itself was not surprising, but the cop fleeing so he wouldn't have to do paperwork was more than a little disconcerting.

it's not possible that he was off-duty, nor is it possible that he had something more important to do...

I went in there one time and I was looking around trying to decide what to get when this lady starts telling me I have to try this and I am all like no I want the strawberry. Her kid looked at me like I was crazy.

note for the future: tww loves cops and the law

but seriously. could have been on the way to another call.

and even if s/he was off duty, i'd hope they'd still stop or at least radio it (or whatever) to someone else. which we do not know if they did/did not do. so there.

Look at the N00b making assumptions.

As others have stated ITT it could have been that he had already been dispatched to a higher priority call.

Nah, I never hear that happen each day.

I hear officers call in situations to Raleigh 1 while responding to other calls. But in your N00bish mind you had already
assumed the worst without knowing facts.

So, you were probably right: He just wanted to avoid the DMV 349 so he ran just so he could find somewhere to lay low and coop for a few hours on the taxpayer dime.

Geez, without you looking out for the rest of us against the evil pigs N00b I don't know where we would be.

Great job! You are a douchebag!

Listen, I can imagine that there were other calls or more important things to do, and in that light I figured the officer might have called in the call as suggested above. So I went into Loco pops, got my delicious loco pop then came out and sat on the hill heading towards the the bell tower. I saw no officer arrive within the 20 minutes that transpired between when I saw the accident and when I finished my loco pop. Perhaps the more reasonable assumption is that every cop in raleigh was too busy with important crimes to come after this accident was called in by another officer rather than this one officer left the scene and called no one so he wouldn't have to deal with it.

^ I hear them everyday over the RPD Investigation TGs.

Never ceases to amaze me how gullible the crooks are.

Also interesting monitoring FBI and DEA on VIPER on a weekly basis. They talk non-stop.

So far this evening alone on RPD Dispatch I have heard a robbery, stabbing, and a couple foot chases.

But I am sure the 10-50 Geppetto was talking about was waaaay more important than any of the above

^^ well considering I have multiple radios I get pretty much everything

One radio just on RPD Dispatch, another radio on FD/EMS VHF Alert Dispatch, another on Various Federal & Local agencies, yet another just scanning around preprogrammed various agencies, My "Home Patrol" pictured above just on SHP Troop C VIPER, another across the room scanning SHP Troop C VHF, etc. All total I usually have about 8 or 9 radios on various monitoring targets.
If something big happens I can flip over to a specific channel/Talkgroup to monitor.

^ You won't hear Federal stuff over the streaming app. Radioreference.com TOS for people who want to stream audio:

* Dedicated Federal Government or Military Communications (exceptions include any fire fighting or EMS operations, space shuttle launch or ISS communications, park ranger operations) "

i still want to know the answer to my question.

i'm guessing the answer is NO on the part of calling it in and NO on the part of stopping to see if people were ok/needed help

YES on the eating of a locopop for 20 minutes
YES on posting the entire story on tww

YES on the story sucking

^^ctnz: If you can spare the money I would recommend either of the following:

Uniden BCD396XT handheld:
http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/BCD396XT

Uniden BCD996XT base/mobile:
http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/BCD996XT

I beta tested both prior to release so you know they will handle VIPER very well.
And if you did get either the programming software is free at scannow.org, and I could get you set with programming
for Central NC (including the fed stuff).
Just PM or email me if you get either of the above and we will have you up and running in no time at all.

To answer your question, I stood there after the cop left and watched the people get out of their car so I knew they we're horribly hurt. Once I got my loco pop they were still out there talking and I then watched someone pull out their phone. This was probably about 7 - 10 minutes after the incident. I waited around for a bit because I didn't know if a cop would show up and need any witnesses but eventually left since no cop showed and their were two people in each car.

For point of record, had no one gotten out of their car I would have gone to assist instead of getting my loco pop and had I not seen them on a cell phone I would have then called to report the accident.

This explains it, because surely we only have 10 cops in all of Raleigh and no where in Raleigh were there two cop cars sitting side by side in a parking lot at that time.

If you guys are going to give me a hard time because I'm new I'd respect you more if you just outright bashed me rather than some really weak trolling attempt. khadwacal seemes like she got her skills off GoLo

maybe they didn't want to involve the law. they were obviously out of harm's way and in control of the situation.

at least you minded your own fucking business.

don't try to tell a cop how to do his job.

raleigh is broken up in to districts. I am sure there were 2 cops sitting in a parking lot "checking in" with each other SOMEWHERE in Raleigh but not necessarily in that particular district.
