I hate on Pizza Inn.

OG is pretty solid though. I mean yeah it's not real Italian but so the fuck what. It tastes good.

I love every second of eating at Pizza Inn while I'm there but immediately regret it by the time I get to the parking lot.

Olive Garden's food has never been that impressive and there are better places for the money.
Also, OG's commercials piss me off.

Douchebag: "As many different pastas as I want? What if I want linguine with white clam sauce? Bowties with marinara?"

Waitress: "It's neverending!"

Me: "Fuck you."

Only more annoying are those Hardee's commercials where they amplify the sound of every bodily function imaginable.

Unless you're in a real city, you're not going to find much better for the money.

If you're in a city like Raleigh og is good. If you're in a real city, OG is bad. People on the wolfweb like to live under the impression that one can just up and fly to Florence for dinner.

not so much. since they're actually trying to be dumb, then you might as well just say 'good job' instead of stating the obvious.

OG is $TEXAS$ for what you get.

Stay home. Fix up some pasta with a little butter. Top it off with some salt/pepper/parmesan. That's like less than a buck right there.

Cook up some mushrooms in a balsamic glaze. Throw in some fresh basil. Maybe add in some peas or some broccoli or something. I dunno. Whatever you do at home, it will be at least ten times cheaper than going out and much healthier (no breadsticks or deceptively fatty/sugary sauces!).

I love Italian/Mexican, but whenever I eat it out, I always end up overstuffed and feeling ripped off. But, man, it's delicious!

Real cities with real italian food at prices that non-capitalists can afford night in night out.

NYC
LA
Chicago
Sand Diego
San Fran
ETICA ETICA

Everyone knows there are a few places in the cary/raleigh for 20+ a plate that taste better than OG but they don't taste as good as something you would get in a little italy and cost much more than all else.

Come off your high horse.

^if you go out to OG and just get pasta with a simple sauche, you''re doing something wrong. Of course that can be made quickly at home. Why would you go to OG and get that?

[Edited on September 26, 2010 at 12:06 PM. Reason : lasagna for example can't be quickly made at home]

come on

unless you mean Arthur Ave in the Bronx
try Bensonhurst

or, better yet, try Italy!

^^^there are plenty of higher end italian restaurants in sub par citires but they charge much more than og. if you want real Italian food for og prices then you need an italian neighborhood. My favorite Italian restaurants in sub par cities usually run me 25-30 bux.

If you make a big vat of good sauce/freeze separate portions, you can fix up some tasty lasagna right quick. Or use store-bought sauce. Whatever. Also, Michelangelo's frozen lasagna is much tastier than OG's, and very, very easy to make at home. You punch a hole in the film and toss it in the microwave.

You can microwave your own crap Italian food at home for cheap or go to Olive Garden and pay them ten bucks (+tip) to microwave it for you.

the microwave myth is false. My best friend is a server at OG and they have 4 cooks per shift and prepare almost everything live. Most of the sauces are made in house. The only thing bad about OG is the quality of the ingredients.

seriously

i've been a whooole bunch of places, and raleigh is a pretty legitimate city. Furthermore, the Triangle area is pretty decent in terms of dining.

my beef with Olive Garden isn't that it's terrible--it's fine, for what it is...it's just that it's so overrated. So many people who wouldn't know good food if it hit them in the face talk about the Olive Garden like it's great.

It's more like an Italian-ish Applebees.

Decent fine dining but the handful of places in the triangle with decent italian food are much more expensive than OG. You're living in an illusion if you think Raleigh is a first class dining city. Very few options and not even many genres. Go to NYC LA SD SF CHI and compare the dining options to Raleigh. Its gotta be a joke and its obvious so theres no need to troll me further.

where is it overrated? I've never heard anyone think it was great overall. You're probably just misunderstanding their meaning of great. Olive garden is great as a fast food sit down restaurant. (compared to chilis applebees etica) in the same way chick fil a is great compared to mcdonalds and such.
