Your parents I mean, didn't necessarily have to be in your name.

Man, I can't think of a more obsolete magazine that I once found useful.

I don't even know if they make Nintendo Power anymore, but it doesn't seem as obsolete as TV guide. Most video game mags have been made more irrelevant with sites like gamespot and IGN but people still read them.

I was curious if the print edition still even existed. It does.

Yes! I want to SAVE 92% on TV Guide Magazine®
and pay only 29¢ an issue!

29 cents and I'm guessing advertisers aren't exactly jumping on that ... it'll surely go under in the next couple years.

^^^It still exists, and it's now published by Future US, along with the official PlayStation magazine and Maximum PC

My parents wouldn't pay for TV Guide, so we pulled the "Channels" section out of the Saturday N&O every week that let you know what was coming on TV for the next week.

Same. Although I don't see the need for the face.

You're doing it wrong.

Advertisers PAY to GET IN the magazine.
The magazine makes their money on Advertisers.
Lets see if you can figure out the rest

^ don't be a grammer nazi.

^^ my parents wouldn't spring for it either. i remember feeling envious of the kids who had TV Guide at their house. it was so much more comprehensive. they were the kids who usually had the coolest toys.

We used the newspaper's channel sections.

And I was never jealous of people who had it.

Um, I know. I work in publishing. But what advertiser is going to pay to be in TV Guide these days? Some old people-type products maybe, but I doubt that the number of businesses willing to pay for ads in that particular publication are going to hold steady very long.

[Edited on September 29, 2010 at 2:23 PM. Reason : when there are non-obsolete places they could be directing their ad funding]

i wasn't jealous of Kids who got TV Guide because they got TV Guide. i was jealous because those were the kids who had the most expensive and coolest toys.

it was like, "damn dude, you got the Super Soaker with laser sight, Remote Controlled scale model F-14 Tomcat with working sweep wings, an 80cc Suzuki dirt bike, the latest release of every NES video game and a projection TV to play it on.... Shit, I'll bet you even have a subscription to the TV Guide! Ha ha! What? Oh.... You do. "
