Want to catch the Giants/Texans game today and want to be able to hear the game as well as see it. Where's your favorite place to watch and why?

Trying to avoid the Raleigh Ale House experience where the manager sets every TV to a certain game which "cannot be changed." People walk in and are seated, realize they can't see their game where they are, so they have to get up and move to another server's section. Then are either waited on by their original server, messing up the other guy's section of tables, or they have to switch servers. Not to mention the only sound in the whole bar is the Panthers game, for the 5 people there wanting to see them play (all the other Panthers fans are on their couches).

Basically I'm looking for a place where the manager is smart enough to put a game in each section, turn the sound on the TVs, and turn the house system off. Everyone can both hear and see their game. Makes sense to me.

I like going to PR. They usually have all or most of the games on with sound.

Woody's in Cary.

I actually haven't been there yet this year, but the wall of TVs is pretty legit. I don't really remember what they do for sound though.

Yeah, Tobacco Road is far and away the best place, but it comes with a price. It gets PACKED TO THE WALLS on a Sunday afternoon... but the biggest and best TVs and great crowd.

[Edited on October 10, 2010 at 10:44 AM. Reason : oh there will be only one game's sound... so you probably don't want it.]

Seconding Player's Retreat. I prefer to keep it off Glenwood South myself.

PR's is a tradition and if you're a State fan and never visited, you should. But you should know this if you're an alumni.

Fuk Glenwood south.

High Park Bar and Grill in 5pts is ok, big, and has lots of TVs.

I enjoy a nice Bada visit sometimes, for the Sunday Ticket and the 50 cent wings.

It's too bad PR smells like cat piss and mildewing wood. That's my only gripe with that place.

Bada is a bad place to watch sports, all of their TVs are like 17in.

Alright man, you're almost right. The proper terminology for the name of said restaurant is actually "The PR." I'm glad there's still people on message boards who point out small grammatical errors and we got this whole thing straightened out.

"The PR".

Ale House does kinda blow. I was at the one in Durham last night and we were trying to watch the Miami-FSU game, not even have the sound turned up but just watch it, and it took probably an hour before we could finally get them to put it on a TV that we could see (instead of the 3 TVs in our field of vision that were playing Florida-LSU). Plus we had the worst waiter in the history of the world.

Village Draft House used to be one of my main spots when I lived in Raleigh. Not going to have the sound situation you want but they have a lot of TVs in a small-ish area so what you want to see is almost guaranteed to be on one of them. Champps in Southpoint could also be an option, lots of screens and the sightlines are good.

Falls Tap Room was weird

All five TVs in the dining room against one wall

Had the sound on in there for the Giants game

But it was 3.5 second in front of the TVs, giving away every play as it was unfolding

They couldn't fix it in the three hour I was there

Jack Astor's

you can see 6 different games without even turning your head.

game with sound on is on both the 65" LCD in the front of the bar and 9' projector screen on the back wall and they are "in sync" with the action every week
