EMCE broke the thread

I went to Oktoberfest at Sugar Mountain today (in banner elk, near boone) and had some fair food. Last time I was there they had deep fried oreos, which were awesome, but not this year

Haha they don't call them "fried" doughnuts. I call them that because they deep fry the dough right in front of you and serve them.

I remember trying the fried coca-cola a few years ago, just because I wanted to know how the fuck you do that. It was pretty nasty.

The fried Wisconsin cheese, however, makes up for all other sins.

The doughnut cheeseburger:

Also it seems like advertising for the fair this year is practically non-existent. Of course I haven't been watching the local news this year like I have in years past. Seems like most of that fair advertising in the past occurred during the news... like mentioning it as a part of every news story, not during the actual commercial breaks.

I must get this food. Also, the first instance of a fried peanut butter and banana sandwich I can recall is from the pilot episode of "Johnny Bravo".

Nah, they make them at a very small stand near the back of the fair. Best kept secret at the fair, imo. They look like these, and are piping hot.

That's the place with the mini-donut factory! I love that thing.

It's also near the place where I get a fish sandwich every year.

Ham Biscuit & Brunswick Stew from the Cary UMC stand
Fried Candy Bar
Lime Fizz
Apple Fritters over by the old mill/lumberjack stuff

These are on the docket every year. Other overindulgences vary.

Man I've only been to the state fair twice, and I had no plan of action for food.

I'm clearly doing this wrong.

How the hell do you people navigate to find a specific place anyway? Are they all mapped out online or something?

All the stands look the goddamn same to me. The only one I can find with regularity is the Wisconsin Cheese stand.

Lots of things are in the same place from year to year, but I would love a Droid app.

There's this:

I also saw they were having deep fried Honey Buns...

I am an advocate of Al's french fries drenched in malt vinegar, as well as the fried twinkie...like someone else mentioned earlier the fried coke was 100% a disappointment..

Depending on the temperature I either get a hot apple cider or an apple cider slushie..yum..my mouth is watering just thinking about all this food btw contrary to what this post may indicate I am not a fattie
