Well, the likely alternative would be to have it come with cheese but cost more. Then, if someone wanted it without cheese, they could order it that way, but it'd likely still cost the same. With the way you described, the place doesn't rip anyone off like that. So, until restaurants start actually lowering the menu price when you ask to omit items from your order, (unlikely) charging extra for add-ons is the best way for consumers.
Of course, consumers are generally stupid. They complain more over having to pay an extra $1 to get cheese on their $2 burger, than over a $3 cheeseburger.10/11/2010 1:40:53 PM |
